MeSH Description
The ten-layered nervous tissue membrane of the eye. It is continuous with the OPTIC NERVE and receives images of external objects and transmits visual impulses to the brain. Its outer surface is in contact with the CHOROID and the inner surface with the VITREOUS BODY. The outer-most layer is pigmented, whereas the inner nine layers are transparent.

Genomic DNA was extracted using the Genomic DNA Mini Kit (Invitrogen, CA, USA) per manufacturer instructions and treated with bisulfite salt using the EZ DNA Methylation-Gold Kit (Zymo Research, CA, USA) on 100 ng of DNA following manufacturer instructions. Libraries were generated using the Accel-NGS Methyl-Seq DNA Library Kit (Swift Biosciences, MI, USA) according to manufacturer's instructions. A spike-in of unmethylated lambda DNA was used to determine bisulfite conversion. Paired-end sequencing was performed using the HiSeq 2500 platform (Illumina, CA, USA) with read-length of 125 base pairs. Libraries were generated using the Accel-NGS Methyl-Seq DNA Library Kit (Swift Biosciences, MI, USA) according to manufacturer's instructions.
