MeSH Description
A spiral tube that is firmly suspended in the bony shell-shaped part of the cochlea. This ENDOLYMPH-filled cochlear duct begins at the vestibule and makes 2.5 turns around a core of spongy bone (the modiolus) thus dividing the PERILYMPH-filled spiral canal into two channels, the SCALA VESTIBULI and the SCALA TYMPANI.

Cochlear ducts were microdissected from E12-E16 temporal treated with collagenase and dispase. Cochlear ducts were dissociated using the Worthington papain dissociation kit. Sox2-EGFP+ and Sox2-EGFP- cells were sorted by FACS. Libraries were prepared from up to 50,000 cells using the Illumina Nextera kit as described by Buenrostro et al. Curr Protoc Mol Biol. 2015.
