MeSH Description

A highly vascularized mammalian fetal-maternal organ and major site of transport of oxygen, nutrients, and fetal waste products. It includes a fetal portion (CHORIONIC VILLI) derived from TROPHOBLASTS and a maternal portion (DECIDUA) derived from the uterine ENDOMETRIUM. The placenta produces an array of steroid, protein and peptide hormones (PLACENTAL HORMONES).

Individual samples [1 term placenta/sample x 3 biological replicates for null and control mice = 6 total samples] were flash frozen prior to DNA isolation and purity assessment Fragments were ligated to pre-annealed adapters containing 5'-methyl-cytosine instead of cytosine Adaptor-ligated size-selected fragments of 150–250 bp and 250–350 bp were bisulfite-treated and sequenced.
