We euthanized all mice at 24 weeks after an overnight fast and froze the livers prior to removal using clamps cooled in liquid nitrogen. The frozen livers were then pulverized into a powder using a CryoPREP impactor (Covaris). We prepared aliquots of pulverized liver for all samples and used these for subsequent library construction. Histone modification ChIP experiments were performed using the MAGnify Chromatin Immunoprecipitation System kit (Life Technologies, Carlsbad, CA) with an antibody against H3K4me1 (Millipore, 17-676). ChIP-Seq libraries were constructed using the NEBNext DNA Library Prep Master Mix Set for Illumina (New England Biolabs, Ipswich, MA) and sequenced on an Illumina Hi-Seq 2000 machine.
