H3K4me3 immunoprecipitation (39159, Active Motif) was performed as described elsewhere (Dahl et al., Nature Protocols) with minor modifications, including phenol-chloroform purification with acrylamide carrier. Illumina libraries were generated (input and IP) using the NEBNext kit (Set 1, NEB), except that adapter ligation was performed using T4 ligase (Fermentas). Following amplification, libraries were purified (SPRI beads, Agencourt) and QC was performed using a Bioanalyser (Agilent).
