MeSH Description
A highly vascularized mammalian fetal-maternal organ and major site of transport of oxygen, nutrients, and fetal waste products. It includes a fetal portion (CHORIONIC VILLI) derived from TROPHOBLASTS and a maternal portion (DECIDUA) derived from the uterine ENDOMETRIUM. The placenta produces an array of steroid, protein and peptide hormones (PLACENTAL HORMONES).

Ectoplacental cone (EPC) tissue was dissected from embryos at e7.5 and e9.5, obtained from timed pregnant CD-1 mice (Charles Rivers Labs). The EPC was separated from the maternal decidua, embryo, and other extraembryonic tissue. Chromatin isolation and immunoprecipitation were carried out as previously described (Tuteja et al. 2008 Nucleic Acid Research 36(12): 4149-4157) but with 5μg chromatin and 1.2μg of H3k27ac antibody (Abcam ab4729, lot: GR24371-1) for the immunoprecipitation assay. For each sample of immunoprecipitated DNA, 2ng were modified for sequencing following the Illumina's protocol (Preparing Sample for ChIP Sequencing of DNA (11257047 Rev A)).
