Male germ cells derived from SPERMATOGONIA. The euploid primary spermatocytes undergo MEIOSIS and give rise to the haploid secondary spermatocytes which in turn give rise to SPERMATIDS.

Spermatocytes were isolated from p12 and p17 old testes which were digested with trypsin and collagenase, and fractionated through 5% percoll. The cells were fixed in 0.6% Formaldehyde for 10 min at RT, then sonicated, and immunoprecipitated with the antibodies indicated. DNA was end repaired, A-tailed, then Illumina barcode adaptors were ligated and amplified.
