MeSH Description
The mucous membrane lining of the uterine cavity that is hormonally responsive during the MENSTRUAL CYCLE and PREGNANCY. The endometrium undergoes cyclic changes that characterize MENSTRUATION. After successful FERTILIZATION, it serves to sustain the developing embryo.

Endometrial specimens were collected from normal volunteers using a Pipelle™ suction device (CooperSurgical) in an outpatient clinic setting. Samples were apportioned to flash freezing in liquid nitrogen and formalin for fixation and later paraffin embedding. Mid-secretory (MS) phase samples were collected 6-10 days after urinary detection of the LH surge and proliferative (P) phase samples were collected between 8-12 days after onset of menses. Illumina sequencing libraries were prepared from the ChIP and Input DNAs by the standard consecutive enzymatic steps of end-polishing, dA-addition, and adaptor ligation. After a final PCR amplification step, the resulting DNA libraries were quantified and sequenced on Illumina's NextSeq 500
