MeSH Description
The relatively long-lived phagocytic cell of mammalian tissues that are derived from blood MONOCYTES. Main types are PERITONEAL MACROPHAGES; ALVEOLAR MACROPHAGES; HISTIOCYTES; KUPFFER CELLS of the liver; and OSTEOCLASTS. They may further differentiate within chronic inflammatory lesions to EPITHELIOID CELLS or may fuse to form FOREIGN BODY GIANT CELLS or LANGHANS GIANT CELLS. Primary macrophages were differentiated from isolated bone marrow in IMDM medium supplemented with IL-3 and CSF1 and ChIP assays were performed with rabbit antibodies against C/EBPa (sc-61X, Santa Cruz). DNA from in vivo treated cells was run on an agarose gel and fragments in the range of 100-600 bp were excised and isolated. This DNA was used to prepare the libraries, according to Illumina's sample preparation protocol
