Chromatin was prepared from ~25 mg cardiac tissue. Homogenized tissue were crosslinked with 1.5 % formaldehyde, nuclei were prepared and chromatin digested using the SimpleChIP Plus Enzymatic Chromatin IP Kit (Cell Signaling Technology, Danvers, MA, USA) according to the manufacturers instructions. 5 ug of digested, cross-linked chromatin was used per immunoprecipitation. ChIP was performed with a H3K9me2 antibody (D85B4, Cell Signaling Technology) according to the manufacturers recommendations. Ten ng of input or ChIP-enriched DNA were used for 2x101 Paired-End Multiplexed library preparation using the NEBNext Ultra DNA Kit (New England Biolabs) and 12 cycles PCR
